History
The history is kept with your book, so it is in the backup and on your
other devices. An answer only becomes an entry when you say so.

Column layouts from both are recognised automatically. Nothing leaves your device.

New recurring entry
€
Automatic is taken by the bank without you — a standing order or
direct debit. Manual is one you pay yourself each time. Entries
carry an A or M so you can see at a glance which still want
doing.
Sets the day of the cycle — a monthly entry starting on the 3rd falls due
on the 3rd of every month. Occurrences appear as Planned; tick them
off as you pay.

What’s new
New category
Custom categories work everywhere the built-in ones do — entries, recurring
rules, budgets and the charts. One that's already used by an entry can't be
deleted until those entries are retagged.
Budgets
An amount here is what you allow yourself per period for that category.
Every expense you log against it draws it down. Leave a category blank if you
don't want to budget it — one-off bills like rent are better as recurring entries.
Any expense that isn't a recurring bill and has no budget of its own is
drawn from this one — so Education, a card payment or a shop you've no
category for all come out of it, while keeping their own category on the entry.
Being the cushion, it's the one budget whose unspent part isn't counted
as expected spending on the dashboard.

Purchase
Scan receipt
Paste the receipt text and it will fill in the prices: each line is matched to an item on
your list, and anything it can't match is added to the end of the list with its price.
Drag the box over the item lines only. Leaving out the shop name at the
top and the totals at the bottom keeps stray text from being read as an item.
Edit a name to re-match it, or drag a new line onto one of these
to merge it into that item instead of adding another.
Capture or select photo offers the camera or your gallery, and either can be cropped before
it's read. A photo is read on this device — nothing is uploaded anywhere. The first one
downloads a small text-recognition model, cached afterward for offline use. It sometimes
misreads a digit or a squashed word, so check the text above before pressing
Read receipt.

Ask about your money
Worked out on this phone from your own entries. Nothing is sent anywhere,
and it answers about this app only.

Settings
Your first name greets you under the title.
Where money sits. Every entry can say which account it moved through.
Starting balance
A starting point per account. Each one is then tracked forward: this
balance, plus income received into it, minus expenses paid from it since
that date. Leave a row blank to pass over it — which is what a credit
card usually wants, since what it holds is a debt rather than money to
count forward.

Nothing is sent anywhere.
Off — anyone with this device can open the app.
Encrypt what is stored here
—
The PIN hides the screen; this makes the stored data unreadable. Your
passphrase and your security answer each open it, so forgetting one is
not the end of the book — forgetting both is.
Log in withWhat the lock screen asks for
—
Locks the screen only — it does not encrypt the data stored on this device.
Recurring payment remindersA reminder for anything due in the next three days.
Notify this deviceA notification on your phone or laptop the day before, and on the day.
Off — data stays only in this browser.
Push on its ownAfter edits settle, when you leave the app, and on opening.
Pushes a JSON backup to a file in your own GitHub repo, straight from this browser — when you
press Push now, and on its own if that switch is on. An automatic push stands down
rather than send a book that is empty, still the example data, or missing a lot compared
with the backup; those wait for a push you make on purpose. Every push is a commit, so
Restore an earlier backup is always the way back. The token is stored only in this
browser's local storage — use a fine-grained token scoped to just this one repo with
"Contents: Read and write", never a broad classic token.

Commerzbank and Deutsche Bank CSV exports, plus most other German bank formats.
Every entry you have, oldest first, in a file Excel opens as it is —
semicolons and commas the German way. It is a copy to read, not a
backup: to move your book, use the backup below or GitHub sync.
Data lives in this browser on this device by default. Turn on Settings › GitHub sync
to also keep a backup copy in your repo, or use the backup box above to move data to
another device by hand.
How this app behaves, as opposed to what is in your book. The rest
arrive one at a time; until then each shows what it is set to.
CurrencyWhat amounts are shown and typed in
Exchange rateNot fetched yet
Your book is kept in euro. In rupees every amount is shown at this
rate, which changes only when you refresh it. An entry typed in
rupees keeps exactly what you typed; one typed in euro shows its
euro amount, small, beneath.
Shopping or tripsWhat the third tab holds
Switching changes only which one the tab shows; nothing in either is lost.
CategoriesHow the picker lays them out
The grid names every category. Bubbles are half the height, with
the name of the one picked under them — worth it once you know
the icons.
Balance lineMonth by month on the balance card
A line under In the account now through what your accounts held at
the end of each of the last twelve months.
LanguageEnglish or Deutsch
Kept on this device. Switching reloads the app in that language.
